Holidays and Your Pets | By Jen Buhler | Animal Kingdom @Pharmative
As we enter the holiday season, people begin to get excited for lots of delicious food, spending time with family, and preparing for lots of football. Of course we can’t forget about the days after Thanksgiving, Black Friday, a day filled with crazy mall shopping and online sales. For vet techs everywhere, we begin to get ready for a very different kind of crazy day after Thanksgiving. We begin preparing the delicious meals of high fiber food, spending time ordering lots of metronidazole (Flagyl, a G.I. antibiotic), and preparing for lots of fluid pumps to be running. For us, it’s National “My Dog Ate Turkey Bones and is Having Diarrhea” Day!
Here are some things for your pet to avoid during Thanksgiving so that everyone has a wonderful holiday without an expensive trip to the vet!

@Sarah Isenberg Hi Sarah! Pointsettias are mildly poisonous (drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, skin irratation) to both dogs and cats but should still be avoided just incase.

Oh my goodness those puppies! Great reminders - aren't pointsettias poisonous to dogs, too?
@Jen Buhler Oooh, good to know not deadly, but we do avoid, in any case. Thanks!
