COVID-19 Pandemic Update in the United States | @Dr J Partyka@Modern Medicine

Here’s a brief COVID-19 pandemic update:
Unfortunately daily COVID-19 cases are increasing in the United States and the average seven day case rate is increasing and currently at 117,465 new cases as of yesterday.
Here are few key points for you and your family to remember:
1. Get vaccinated to prevent severe disease, hospitalization and death, and get your booster shots according to CDC.gov. On average COVID-19 vaccines lasts approx. 4 to 6 months.
2. Even if you have had COVID-19 disease in the past, you still need to get vaccinated as natural immunity only lasts approximately 3 to 4 months.
3. Currently, you should wear masks indoors and at large outdoor gatherings as COVID-19 virus is highly contagious and rapidly spreading throughout the United States. Wear your masks on planes, trains and bus trips.
4. If you have had COVID-19 disease and once you have recovered, then self quarantine for 5 days according to CDC guidelines and next practice social distancing and cover your mouth and nose with a mask.
5. If you’re positive for COVID-19 whether or not your symptomatic, self quarantine for 5 days according to CDC guidelines.
6. Once your test is positive with a rapid antigen test, retesting is hard to interpret as dead virus may still be in your nasal cavity and might produce false positive results.
7. Call your Physician or Pharmacist to see if you have risk factors which qualify you for Plaxovid which is an anti-viral drug available for National Emergency Use; most pharmacists can now prescribe Paxlovid under certain criteria.
8. If you have difficulty in breathing and your oxygen level is dropping (puloximeter < 90 %) call your doctor and consider going to the hospital for oxygen therapy.
9. Supportive medicatations which I recommend for COVID-19 symptomatic relief include: Mucinex Sore throat and cough relief lozenge (Dextromethorphan and Hexylresorcinl); Mucinex Fast-Max which contains (Tylenol, Dextromethorphan, Guafenesin and phenylephrine) and keep yourself well hydrated.
10. Ibuprofen is also helpful for fever, headache and body aches.
Remember to stay healthy by getting vaccinated and by minimizing the spread of disease by wearing your mask and practicing social distancing. #covid19
